Anzoátegui is situated in the north-east of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. It is bordered on the north by the Caribbean Sea, on the west by the State of Guarico, on the south by the State of Bolivar and on the east by the States of Sucre and Monagas. It covers an area of 43,300 square kilometers and has a population of around 1,600,000. The capital city is Barcelona.
