The Province of Misiones: Introductory Note

The Province of Misiones is situated in the northeast of Argentina and juts out into Brazil, of which it was originally a part. It is bordered on the northwest by Paraguay, on the north, south and west by Brazil and on the southwest by the Argentinean Province of Corrientes. It covers an area of 29,801 square kilometers (11,506 square miles) and, as of 2010, had a population of 1,101,593. The capital city is Posadas.
