1. The Supreme Federal Tribunal of Brazil (‘STF’) is the highest institution of the Brazilian judiciary. It functions both as the apex court in the judicial system and as a constitutional court. In principle, the primary function of the STF is to safeguard the Constitution (Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil: 5 October 1988, Title IV, Chapter III, Section II, Art. 102 (Braz)).
