Liechtenstein is the sixth smallest independent country in the world, It covers merely 160.4 square kilometers (62 square miles) in the middle of Western Europe and has a population of around 35, 322. It is a doubly landlocked country in that it is surrounded by two equally landlocked countries, Austria to the east and Switzerland to the west.1 It is divided into 11 communes (Gemeinden) and two districts, the Upper Land (Oberland) and the Lower Land (Unterland) The capital is Vaduz.
