The Autonomous Region of Trentino-South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige in Italian)[1] lies in the north of Italy. It is bordered on the north by Austria and Switzerland, on the west by the Region of Lombardy and on the east and south by the Region of Venetia. It has a surface area of 13,607 square kilometers (5,254 square miles) and a population, according to the 2019 census, of 1.1 million. 63% of the population are Italian-speaking, 33% German-speaking and 4% Ladin-speaking.[2] The capital is Trent (Trent in German but Trento in Italian) but it alternates biennially...
