The 2014 Tunisian Constitution is the result of the political transition which began in 2011 after the popular uprisings which led to the fall of the autocratic regime of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who had been in power since 1987. The revolutionary origin of the text becomes clear if one considers the innovative character of the new Constitution, which breaks with a tradition marked by the Constitution that served the purpose of an autocratic regime.
