Styria is an independent federal state of the democratic Republic of Austria. 1) International treaties under which the Federal borders are changed may only be concluded with the assent of the State if they affect Styria. 2) Border changes and border adjustments within the Federal territory that also affect the Styrian State border, require a State law in addition to the other requirements laid down in the Federal Constitution.
