The High Commissioner of the Republic ensures public order and contributes to the respect for public freedoms and individual and collective rights in French Polynesia. He1 directs the departments of the State in French Polynesia subject to the provisions of the first paragraph of Article 96 of Organic Law No. 2004-192 of February 27, 2004 on the statute of autonomy of French Polynesia, excluding bodies of a judicial nature, subject to exceptions exhaustively enumerated by a decree approved by the Council of State.
