Mato Grosso is a large state in west-central Brazil that is mostly covered with Amazon rainforest, wetlands and savanna plains. It is bordered on the west by the State of Rondônia and the nation of Bolivia, on the northwest by the State of Amazonas, on the north by the State of Pará, on the northeast by the State of Tocantins, on the southeast by the State of Goiás and on the south by the State of Mato Grosso do Sul.
